Tournaments

TooManyGames is host to a premiere Super Smash Bros. major tournament – Smashadelphia! This event features events for all five Smash games – Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, Project M, and Smash 4. Smashadelphia features thousands of dollars in prizes, and thus, has a separate entry fee with online pre-registration required to enter the tournament. This competition is open to all players, but it is recommended that you have previous tournament experience when competing in the Smashadelphia events. If you are still interested in competing in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at a casual level, please see below for details on our casual level event.

Open Events

All tournaments listed below are free to enter with signups held at the convention on the morning of, with the exception of Smash 4 (details provided below). All events are single elimination (unless otherwise noted) and tournament rules will be added soon.

Friday

[All Day] Tetris (NES) – High Score
Players have the chance to set a high score on Tetris for the NES all day throughout Friday. Whoever gets the highest score is the winner of the tournament!

[3:00pm – 6:00pm] Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (Wii U) – Sit n’ Go $5 Entry
For players looking to compete that aren’t quite ready for Smashadelphia, this is the event for you! Signups and tournaments will be available throughout all four hours here. As soon as we get 8 players, they will compete in a tournament against each other with easier rules designed to help them learn and prepare for competitive play. The winner of each group will be granted free access into the professional Smashadelphia tournament.

[4:00pm] Sonic The Fighters (GCN) – Grand Championship Showdown!
Competitors compete against each other in this appropriately TooManyGames 2017 themed fighting game tournament! 1st place gets a $100 cash prize sponsored by Screenwave Media.

[7:00pm] Powerstone 2 (DC)
This classic game pits players against each other in a 3D environment, where fighters tactfully evade their opponents and gather items to help them rise to victory!

Saturday

[12:00pm] Mario Kart 64 (N64) – Battle Mode
No longer a need to focus on just your skills in racing, this classic pits players against each other in a battle mode while in your karts!

[12:00pm – 3:00pm] Pokémon Smogon Tournament (3DS)
Battle in a competitive tournament with the new Pokémon Sun and Moon games on the 3DS. Make sure to bring your own games and 3DS or 2DS for this event. The tournament will be using the Smogon Standard OverUsed rules. Rules here.

[2:00pm] Injustice 2 (PS4)
Fight as popular characters from the DC Universe in the new 2017 fighting game title. Players are allowed to bring their own controller if desired.

[3:00pm] Puyo Puyo Tetris (Nintendo Switch)
Battle it out in “Puyo Puyo Tetris” to see who has the best brick breaking, Puyo popping skills. 16 people will compete head to head in Puyo Puyo Tetris, winner of the bracket will go on to face host of the “Stone Age Gamer Podcast”, Kris Randazzo.  If you can beat Kris you get a Stone Age Gamer care package which includes T-Shirts and a gift card to stoneagegamer.com. Even if you can’t beat Kris there still is a consolation prize for the finalist. Do you have what it takes prove you’re the best?
– 16 person, single elimination bracket
– Waiting list for replacements is available
– Match style will be “Swap Battles”
– Personal controllers are welcome but not necessary
– If you are not at the tournament when your name is called we will move on to a person from the waiting list or your opponent will move on

[4:00pm] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) – Free For All Vs Race
Race against others to test your skills on the track, all while skillfully dodging opponent’s items, and sending back your own!

[7:00pm] WWF No Mercy (N64)
You’re the star to take down your opponents in this classic wrestling gem on the N64.

Sunday

[11:00am – 2:00pm] Pokémon Battle Frontier Tournament (3DS)
Battle in a competitive tournament with the new Pokémon Sun and Moon games on the 3DS. Make sure to bring your own games and 3DS or 2DS for this event. The Frontier Symbols you’ve collected from the Battle Frontier will help you in the tournament! Rules here.

[12:00pm] Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS4)
Get excited for MvC Infinite coming soon and prepare by showing off your skills in UMvC3! Players are able to use their own controller if desired.

[3:00pm] Windjammers (NeoGeo)
Who needs to wait for the upcoming re-release when you can jam out on the original NeoGeo? Fast paced fun awaits competitors in this cult classic.
