We are hosting a variety of arcade tournaments this year at TooManyGames. Last year, we tested out the waters with a few tournaments and we are now expanding it to be bigger and better.

2024 Arcade Tournaments

– Please sign-up an hour early at Arcade Ops.
– All rhythm games require a pre-qualifier, times listed in rules.
– Arrive at least 15 minutes early to play time.
– Players not on time for attendance will be disqualified.
– Any attempt to unfairly impact a game (physically or otherwise) that impacts an opponent’s ability to play the game is grounds for disqualification, at the TO’s discretion.

Rules

RHYTHM & DANCE GAMES:

  • ALL Rhythm Tournaments require submitting a pre-qualifying score to include score/level and photo of score/level. If unable to pre-qualify, a player can participate, but will be randomly seeded, if there is an odd number of players registered.
  • All tournaments will run single elimination with 2 players playing simultaneously. High score moves on to the next round.
  • All players must show up at start time to get an estimated time of bracket play. The bracket will have a level range and players will be placed in brackets based on pre-qualifying scores, higher seeded players will play later on in the bracket.
  • Each round of play will include 2 songs drawn at random for each match in the bracket.

Specific General Rules for Pump it Up – 2023 Phoenix:

  • All matches will be played on NJ (normal judgment)
  • Bar use is allowed at all times
  • One warm up chart is allowed per player for their very first set.
  • This must be an Arcade or Shortcut chart, but can be at any level.
  • If two players are playing their first set on the same machine they will share a single warmup chart.
  • Baby powder, or anything players wish to apply to their shoes IS NOT ALLOWED.
  • All speed mods and noteskins are allowed. Mods from display category are allowed.
  • Mods in the Path and Alternate categories are strictly prohibited.
  • In the case of a score tie on the tiebreaker, players will draw one random song from the highest level in the rounds level range and play it for the tiebreaker.
  • In the case any event may unfairly impact a player mid-song, the TO may allow both players to replay a song.  Both players keep the higher score.

 

SKILL GAME RULES:

FRIDAY 6-7  Ice Cold Beer – Amateur

Round robin, pending on the amount of players in attendance.

Score based. Highest score wins.

(Amateurs and new players only!)

FRIDAY 7-9  Ice Cold Beer – Professional

(Professional and experienced players only!)

SATURDAY 6-8  Claw Machines
Each participant gets 10 tries to grab a “prize.”
(These prizes are machine defaults for gameplay, you do not actually keep them.)
All skill levels. Everyone is welcome, but entry will be locked for time.
Sign-up an hour before play time, please!
Expect a playoff of the top players based on participation size.
First place gets a trophy and custom t-shirt.

CANDY CAB RULES:

SATURDAY 1-3  Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

Played on a set of Egret 2 candy cabs linked.
24 person tournament, max.
Sign-up an hour before play time, please!
Similar rules to Jazzy Circuit, but single elimination.
Cannot play as Gill. No game breaking glitches. Judgment in effect.
If you win you keep the same character and Super.
If you lose you can change your selections.
First to 2 wins for regular play. First to 3 for finals.
First place gets a trophy and custom t-shirt.

SUNDAY 3-5  Twinkle Star Sprites

Played on a single Neo 29 candy cab.
Brackets will be first-come, first-serve and may cap.
Sign-up an hour before play time, please!
Mevious and Memory are banned.
Best of 3 for early round, best of 5 for finals
Winner may not switch characters.
First place gets a trophy and custom t-shirt.
